In the
NOVEMBER issue of Dolls, I am featured in the magazine's 'Fresh
Faces' section, page 14 & 15. It is a wonderful two page spread, with
many of my dolls pictured and an interview with me about my dolls, style,
and personal life. I am truly amazed by the article and can't quite believe
I am being featured in a national magazine. Go grab a copy and take a
look.
August
2005
This
month I was asked to be a part of a new book to raise funds for Project
Return. For the past several years, I have donated a doll to the Project's
Birdhouse charity auction. This new book will feature some of the great
pieces auctioned off, with their artists with them. I am happy to continue
to help this great community project, you can find a link to their site
in the Links section.

NIADA
Conference
This
year I was awarded the Helen Bullard Scholarship. This scholarship, named
after the originating founder of the National Institute of American Doll
Artists (NIADA), is intended to help new artists that NIADA thinks are
promising attend the conference. I am very excited to attend the conference
and be around fellow figurative and doll artists.
Thank
you NIADA, for the opportunity.
Featured
in Dolls (Magazine)
Earlier
in 2005, I was asked to talk about my experiences taking lessons from
Ankie Daanen. Having nothing but wonderful things to say, I agreed. In
the July issue of Dolls, there is a great article on Ankie (Pg. 40) and
I am quoted several times in the article. It is a good article, and you
should pick it up if you have the chance.
In the
same issue there is an article on Artists United (Pg. 36). I am mentioned
there as well, with a photograpgh of me with Twlya, mislabled in the article
as 'Best Friends' (which is actually the store that purchased Twyla.)
See
my Links section for more information on Artists United, or Best Friends
in California.
